Food Quality

Food quality is stored on custom foods and ingredients. It is not just flavor text: quality is part of progression, advancement tracking, and recipe identity.

What Changes Quality

  • Recipe actions can set a base quality or add to it.
  • Ingredient quality can carry into later foods; the crafting code keeps the best input quality when no explicit quality is supplied.
  • Crops can store quality and keep it when replanted after harvest.
  • Cooking Mastery adds a recipe-specific quality bonus as you repeat the same recipe.

Reading Quality In Play

Quality appears in item names and lore. If two players make the same recipe but one uses better ingredients or has more mastery, their outputs can differ.

Why It Matters

Quality supports long-term goals: better crops, better repeated cooking, and quality-based advancements. If a recipe feels unrewarding, check whether it is setting quality too low or never inheriting quality from its ingredients.
